Edward Putman, 86, of 151 Laurens Street, died Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born March 9, 1923, in Cherokee County, SC, he was the son of the late William Hobert and Nellie Dorman Putman. He was retired from Clifton Mills and was a member of Central Baptist Church of Cowpens where he was a former Deacon. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Allie Henderson Putman; a son, Mitchell Putman and his wife Terri Wright Putman, a granddaughter, Susan Jolly and her husband Dennis, a great-grandson, Grayson Jolly, and a great-granddaughter, Caroline Jolly, all of Cowpens; three brothers, Charles Putman and his wife Beverly, George Putman, and Kenneth Putman and his wife Betty Sue; and four sisters, Vennie Miller and her husband Ed, Ruby Starnes, Martha McCraw and her husband Kenneth, and Carolyn Stacy and her husband Terry. He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Paul Putman; and a sister, Louise Putman. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2009, at Central Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Robert Ivey and Dr. Clyde P. Thomas.
