Edward "Pappy"

Edward Herbert Behnke, 73, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at his home. Born August 17, 1944, in Upstate New York, he was the son of the late Martha Mary Behnke and husband of the late Cynthia Marie Hunter Behnke. A U. S. Navy veteran, Mr. Behnke retired from the Naval Reserves after 20 years of service. He was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed the beach, gardening, and playing with his great grandkids. Survivors include his sons, Richard Behnke (Trena), Dewayne Behnke, and Paul Behnke; grandchildren, Dustin Behnke, Brittnee Behnke, Josh Burns, Shelley Simpson, and Cayla Burns; great-grandchildren, Barron Brown, Rylan Behnke, and Graisan Kirkland; brothers and sisters, Donald Behnke, David Behnke, Jon Behnke, Shelley and Stephanie, all of Upstate New York; and his best companion, his dog Ratt. In addition to his mother and wife, he was predeceased by a son, Michael Behnke; and brothers, Timmy Behnke and Kevin Behnke. Visitation will be 12:00-12:45 PM Monday, March 5, 2018, at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel, 141 Memorial Dr., Pacolet, SC 29372. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM, in Pacolet First Baptist Church Cemetery, 310 W. Main St., Pacolet, SC 29372, conducted by The Rev. Tommy Sparks. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at their respective homes.
