Edward Bowie "Ted" Kay, 43, of Savannah, GA, died Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at his home. Born February 23, 1973, in Fayetteville, NC, he was the son of Sally Picton Jones Kay of Spartanburg, SC and the late Edward Coker Kay. A 1991 graduate of Spartanburg High School, Ted received his BA Degree from Winthrop University in 1995, and attended Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD). He was a caricature artist on River Street in Savannah and worked as a substitute teacher. In addition to his mother, survivors include four sisters and their husbands, Kimberly Kay and Michael Allen of Columbia, SC, Sherry and Jim Shuler of Marshville, NC, Nancy and Jeffrey Ward of Cartersville, GA, and Susan Kay of Napa, CA; 10 nieces and nephews; and 7 great-nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by twin brothers, Timothy and Michael Kay. Visitation will be 1:30 PM Thursday, October 13, 2016 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1320 Fernwood Glendale Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM at the church, conducted by the Rev. John Warren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908 online at www.stjude.org; or St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1320 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
