Edward Harris

March 9, 1927 — August 4, 2017

Edward Woodrow Harris, 90, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, August 4, 2017, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born March 9, 1927 in Union County, SC, he was the son of the late James Elbert and Ethel Childress Harris and husband of the late Dorthy Phillips Harris. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. A United States Marine Corp Veteran, Mr. Harris was the former owner of E. W. Harris Construction Company. He loved his family; enjoyed anything outside especially his garden and cows. An avid rock collector, he and the boys traveled out west looking for rocks. Mr. Harris loved conversation and never met a stranger. He attended Westview Baptist Church. Survivors include his children, Raymond Dean Harris (Deborah), Kevin Woodrow "Woody" Harris and Ruth Etta Bagwell (Frank) all of Spartanburg, SC, Katherine Ann Wright (Michael) of Inman, SC and Keva Glee Zoglio of Inman, SC; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, August 7, 2017 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Visitation will follow at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
