Edward "Ed" W. Froman, 69, of Columbus, NC, died Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a long courageous battle with cancer and heart problems. Born December 9, 1943, in New Smyrna Beach, FL, he was the loving husband of Jenneane Froman and the son of the late Edward William Froman Sr. and Winifred Farr Froman. A U. S. Air Force veteran, Mr. Froman was a graduate of Florida State University and attended the University of Kentucky. While in the Air Force, he played rugby in France. He was a member and past president of the Spartan West Rotary Club, a juvenile arbitrator for Spartanburg County, and instructor for Criminal Justice at Daytona State College. Ed was retired as a warden from the Volusia County Correction Facility, and most recently employed as the maintenance supervisor for Hinson Management in Boiling Springs, SC. He was a graduate of New Smyrna Beach High School where he played football, baseball, and was a lifeguard for NSB. He loved camping, cooking, hunting, skiing, and fishing, but his greatest love was for his family and country. In addition to his wife, survivors include five daughters, Terri Aguilar, Tammy Terry, Tonya Kinsella, and Joy Terry, all of Deland, FL, and Gretchin McGuinn (Randy) of Campobello, SC; a son, Greg Hinson (Candy) of Roebuck, SC; seven grandchildren; a brother, Johnny Froman (Linda) of Port Orange, FL; sister-in-law, Cindy Froman of Pace, FL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Froman. Visitation will be 4:00-5:45 PM Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel.
