Edward Barnes

Edward N. Barnes, 76, of Moore, SC, died Sunday, December 31, 2017, at RoseCrest Retirement Community. Born November 30, 1941 in Decatur, IL, he was the son of the late John Edgar and Helen A. Barnes. Mr. Barnes graduated from Sullivan High School in 1959 and received a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1964. He served in the Army National Guard Reserves from 1960-1966, was a lifelong amateur radio enthusiast call sign K9EB, life member of the NRA and a Registered Professional Engineer. Mr. Barnes was a member of Joy Lutheran Church. Survivors include his daughters, Stephanie Marshall and Monica Gray; step-daughter, Kelly McDill; step-son, Michael Kiser; niece, Timi Thune and 12 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Susan J. Frizzell in 1996; his second wife, Donnie Bailey in 2015 and brother, William Kent Barnes. The body will be placed in the church at 1:00 PM Friday, January 5, 2017 for viewing, with funeral services following at 2:00 PM at Joy Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Lane Bembenek. Burial will be in Westwood Memorial Gardens, 6101 Reidville Rd., Moore, SC 29369. Memorials may be made to Joy Lutheran Church Building Fund, 3980 Moore Duncan Hwy, Moore, SC 29369.
