Edna Park

January 18, 1917 — July 31, 2014

Edna Padgett Park, 97, of Montpelier, MD and formerly of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. Born January 18, 1917 in Rutherfordton, NC, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Eva Allen Padgett of NC, and was the widow of the late Olin E. Park. Mrs. Park lived most of her life in Spartanburg, and since prior to WWII, she and her husband, were members of the First Presbyterian Church and were long-time members of the Fellowship Bible Class. She also served as Treasurer of the Women of the Church. She retired after many years in the business office at Hartness Bottling Works where she had many dear friends among her colleagues. Upon retirement, she volunteered at Mary Black Hospital. She is survived by her son, Richard E. Park and her daughter-in-law, Celine C. Park of Montpelier, MD; nieces, Susan K. Johnson of West Columbia, SC, Martha Ellis of Summerville, SC, Patricia Branham and Nancy Elliott, both of Columbia, SC; nephews, Marc Wilson of Atlanta, GA, and David Keegan of West Columbia, SC; and by beloved grand-nieces and nephews, Roy W. Johnson, Kelly Fitzgerald, and Amanda Flanagan, all of West Columbia, SC. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Keegan, and a brother, George D. Padgett. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:30 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Tom Evans. The family requests that memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 393 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
