Edna Layton

Edna S. Layton, 87, of Roebuck, SC, died Saturday, October 3, 2015, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born August 22, 1928, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Nellie L. Smith. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, James Luther "J.L." Layton, Jr. Mrs. Layton was formerly employed with Roebuck Primary School Cafeteria. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and had served as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. Survivors include daughters, Brenda Coggins (Oran) of the home; Edith Holcombe and Letha Fleenor (Bryan) of Roebuck, SC; a son, Kevin Layton (Tammey) of Roebuck, SC; nine grandchildren, Corrie Lee, Brandi McGee, Christopher Coggins, Josh and Chase Holcombe, Danielle and Jade Fleenor, Seth and Noah Layton; five great grandchildren; and sisters, Cora Franklin, JoAnn Montgomery, and Rosa Graham. Visitation will be at 2:30 - 3:30 PM Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church, 1399 Walnut Grove Road, Roebuck, SC 29376. Funeral services will be at 4:00 PM at the church, conducted by the Rev. Richard Thomas. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303; Alzheimer's Association, 901 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or Mt.
