Edna Hammond

Edna Earl Foster Hammond, 87, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, November 15, 2015, at Valley Falls Terrace-Spartanburg. Born May 13, 1928, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Clinton and Ejay Woodruff Foster and widow of Robert L. Hammond. Mrs. Hammond loved gardening and making crafts, pillows and dolls were her specialty. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and a retired social worker having worked for the Baptist home for unwed mothers in western Tennessee and Carolina Pregnancy Center of Spartanburg. Survivors include her son, David Hammond of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Megan, Trey, and Chance Hammond; sisters, Shirley Lunsford (John) of Inman, SC and Sybil Lytle (Paul) of Concord, NC; and sister-in-law, Betty Foster of Spartanburg, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Robert Lee Hammond; sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Joe Bob Lee; and brother, L. F. "Sid" Foster. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Bruce Tjelta and Mr. Mark Hollis. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Memorials may be made to the Carolina Pregnancy Center, PO Box 5364, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
