Edna Burgess

Edna Knox Burgess, 91, of Spartanburg, SC died Monday, December 15, 2020 at White Oak North Grove. Born January 22, 1929 in Union County she was the daughter of the late James M. Knox Sr. and Bessie Hodge Knox and widow of Maurice W. Burgess. A graduate of Jonesville High School and Robinson Business College, Mrs. Burgess was retired from Coggins Flowers & Gifts after 35 years of service. She also loved working in her garden and would share her crops and other goodies with friends at church, as well as her neighbors. She was a member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery in the 2 and 3 year old classes for 30 years. She was a faithful servant of her church and her life was a testament to how much she loved the Lord. She also loved her family immensely. Mrs. Burgess was a member of AARP and NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees). Survivors include her sons, Larry Burgess (Delilah) of Lehigh Acres, FL, Kevin Burgess (Wanda), Neal Burgess (Tami) all of Jonesville, SC and Paul Burgess (Misti) of Duncan, SC; grandchildren, Jon, Jessica, Elizabeth, Keith Jr., Kelly, Kristina, Holly, Heather, Josh, Cole and Morgan; 23 great-grandchildren, and sisters, Betty Lawson of Spartanburg, SC and Shirley White of Union, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by son, Keith Burgess; grandson, Larson Burgess; brothers, Fred Knox, James Knox Jr., Alfred Knox and Robert Knox, and sister, Flora Knox Dickson. Visitation will be held 1:30-2:30 PM Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307, with funeral services following at 3:00 PM in the Chapel conducted by The Rev. Ronnie Norris. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
