Edna Lavender Brown, 89, of Inman, SC died on Monday, March 9, 2015, at her home. Born January 5, 1926, in Forest City, NC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Walton and Ethel Blankenship Lavender. Edna grew up on the Beaumont Mill Village across from her future husband, Bo Brown. They were married for 72 years and lived at Lake Bowen for 45 years. She and Bo had three children, Chann Brown, Charm Altman, and Kay Shockley; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Edna had two sister, both of Rock Hill, SC. Edna worked at Beaumont Mills (a job she took to help buy their first car), was a dental assistant for Dr. Carlson and Dr. Stoltz, later she was employed with the Geer Drug Company as a key-punch operator and retired from Geer Drug while living in Charleston, SC. Edna and Bo served with the Red Cross for 20 years. She was a member of The Skylyn United Methodist Church, the New Prospect Joy Club, and the Beaumont Baptist Senior Club. Edna will be remembered for her love of her family, and most people, especially babies. Her love for the Red Cross showed her willingness to help others. She was devoted to her Christian faith and was always strong in faith for her on GOD. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:45 PM on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, with services following at 3:00 PM in the Chapel conducted by the Rev. James B. Carter. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Memorials may be made to Skylyn United Methodist Church, 1415 Skylyn Dr., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
