Edith Stanley

Edith Burns Stanley, 87, of Spartanburg, passed away Friday, August 17, 2012, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills in Landrum, SC. Born April 20, 1925, in Campobello, SC, she was a daughter of the late V. S. and Mattie Sue Bruce Burns and the widow of Harvey C. Stanley. She was retired from Reeves Brothers, Inc. after 43 years of service as Purchasing Manager. Mrs. Stanley was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Juanita Waring Circle and the John Nicholson Sunday School Class. Mrs. Stanley is survived by a sister, Beulah Witt of Lumberton, NC and a co-worker and longtime friend of 50 years, Joe McClellan and his wife, Kathy. While she never bore children of her own, because of Edith's loving personality she will leave behind an extended family who loved her dearly in return. She was predeceased by two brothers, Billy Dean Burns and Jerome Volney Burns. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, August 19, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 20, 2012, at Trinity United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Steve Holler. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
