Edith Marcengill Osment, 86, of Boiling Springs, died Monday, August 31, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born March 21, 1923, in Westminster, SC, she was the daughter of the late Julius Cecil and Grace Farmer Marcengill and the wife of the late James Wesley Osment. She was a retired secretary and of the Baptist faith. While living in Germany when her husband served with the Air Force, Mr. and Mrs. Osment traveled extensively throughout Europe. After his retirement, they made their home at Surfside Beach, SC, for ten years. Survivors include a grandson, Mark T. Osment of Inman; a granddaughter, Michelle Osment Ridings of Cowpens; a sister, Mary Houston Brannon of Boiling Springs; a brother, Jack Marcengill of Easley; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend and caregiver, Ann Thompson. She was predeceased by a son, Eugene Wesley Osment; three brothers, Joe Marcengill, W. H. Marcengill, and Frank Marcengill; and two sisters, Gwen Cantrell and Jean Gilbert. Cryptside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at Good Shepherd Memorial Park Mausoleum, Boiling Springs, conducted by Mr. Terry Sizemore. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-1:45 p.m. at the Mausoleum.
