Ed Layne

Ed Layne, 58, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, April 3, 2011, at his home. Born August 15, 1952, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Robert Louis Layne Sr. and Dorothy Hon Layne. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Rita Ann Huskey Layne. Mr. Layne was a member of Ben Avon Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Kari Layne (Mathew) of Spartanburg, Amber McDowell (Travis) of Inman, and Brooke Kress (Shane) of Cowpens; a granddaughter, Mckenna Hawley of Spartanburg; two grandsons, Noah and Aaron McDowell, both of Inman; two sisters, Janis Carter of Washington and Sandy Kogelschatz of Alabama; and a brother, Robert Layne Jr. of Michigan. Visitation will be 1:00-2:30 PM Friday, April 8, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Vernon Thornhill and the Rev. Richard King. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family is at the home.
