Eckel Burger

Eckel Peggy Burger, 94, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at Valley Falls Terrace Nursing Home. Born June 15, 1917, in Asheville, NC, she was the widow of Floyd L. Burger, Sr., and daughter of the late William E. and Alice Epley Simpson. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and retired from Abbott Laboratories. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include her daughter, Peggy B. Seay; and grandchildren, William Craig Seay, Christopher "Chris" Seay, Phoebe Seay Gilbert, Stacey Seay Fairey, Chad R. Burger, Donna B. Horn, and Wendy B. Missita. She was predeceased by her son, Floyd L. Burger, Jr.; three brothers, Raymond, Robert, and William Simpson; and four sisters, Ruth Nix, Frankie Tollison, Cleo Henderson, and Mae Woodruff. A private family service will be held at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by her grandson-in-law, Pastor Bobby Gilbert. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
