Earl Stroud

Earl J. Stroud, 86, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, November 08, 2014 at Hospice House of Carolina Foothills. Born January 23, 1928, in Spartanburg, SC and he was the son of the late Luther Joseph and Ruth Kirkendall Stroud. Earl was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired machinist from Firestone Steel Products. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church. Survivors include two granddaughters, Sabrina Worthy and husband Scott, and Ginny Justice; great-granddaughters, Morgan and Hanna Worthy; great-grandsons, Cory and Cole Justice, all of Spartanburg, SC; a brother, Johnny Stroud, of Greer. He was predeceased by his wife, Frances Blackwell Stroud, and his son, Raymond Earl Stroud. Funeral services, with military rites provided by American Legion Post #28, will be Monday, November 10, 2014 at 2:00 PM in Floyd's Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307 conducted by the Rev. Chris Kurtz. Visitation will follow at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, 260 Fairwinds Road, Landrum, SC 29356.
