Everett Wayne Chapman, 64, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born February 27, 1950, in Spartanburg, he was the son of Mary Nell Arthur Chapman of Cannons Camp Ground, and the late Everett Boyd Chapman. Mr. Chapman worked in the school system for 37 years, 14 years as Director of Daniel Morgan Vocational School, formerly for 22 years he taught at R. D. Anderson ATC Applied Technology Center and was Assistant Director and Interim Director having taught Drafting and was Job Placement Coordinator. He was also employed at Roebuck Builders. He was a lifelong member of Cannons Camp Ground United Methodist Church where he was very active as chairman of the building committee when the new sanctuary was built, a former Sunday School teacher, church treasurer and usher. Mr. Chapman was a member of the Cannons Ruritan Club, former Spartanburg Lions Club member, a graduate of Leadership Spartanburg, a member of SC Vocational Directors Association, Association of Technical Education, SCTE (SC Technical Education Association), ATE (National Technical Education Association), and the SC Director's Association. He was a graduate of Cowpens High School, Wofford College and Clemson University. Survivors include his beloved wife of 32 years, Debra Brisack Chapman, son, Jacob Wayne Chapman of the home, sisters, Emily C. Gilmer (Franky) of Spartanburg, SC and Janice C. Addington (Ed) of Cowpens, SC and mother-in-law, Bernice Majid (Abdul) of Spartanburg, SC and three nephews. In addition to his father, he is predeceased by his father-in-law, J. Earl Brisack Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Cannons Campground United Methodist Church, by Rev. Mac Kinnett, Rev. David Ervin, and the Rev. Brian Gilmer. Visitation will follow the service in the church sanctuary. Burial will be private. Honorary escort will be the Friendship Sunday School Class, Ruritan Club and Educational Colleagues.
