Ernest Cecil Smith, 82, of Boiling Springs, SC, died Friday, January 29, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice. Born May 11, 1933 in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Jesse V. Smith, Sr. and Florence Mae Sailor Smith. Mr. Smith was an Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and was previously a deacon, elder, and Sunday School teacher at Rose Lane Presbyterian Church. He was retired as a drawing machine operator from Beaumont Mills and who continued to work for Douglas Pest Control. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Beverly Gilmer Smith of the home; son, Gerald Smith of Inman, SC; daughter, Kimberly Reilly of the home; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers. Visitation will be 11:00 - 11:45 AM Monday, February 1, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 PM at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Glenn Rusher and the Rev. Allen Elder. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
