Durant Strickland

Durant James Strickland, 90, of Spartanburg died Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at his home. Born January 23, 1921 in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Otis and Mary Gosnell Strickland and husband of the late Hazel Lee Wilson Strickland. He was a retired technician with Willard Oil Company and a member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors are a son, Bradley Strickland of Spartanburg; a daughter, Brenda (Dave) Billiter of Buford, GA; a granddaughter, Jennifer Marie (David) Meece of Greer; a great-grandson, Steven Parton of Greer; three sisters, Eunice Kneisley of Inman, Aileen Roddy of Duncan, and R.V. Sanford of Chesnee; a brother, Perry Strickland of Inman; and his loving companion, Barbara Thrasher of Wellford. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, March 4, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Danny Garrett. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
