Dr. Fussell

Dr. Thomas "Tom" Franklin Fussell, 84, of Spartanburg, SC died Saturday, May 6, 2017. Born October 15, 1932 in Doerun, GA, he was the son of the late Archie Herbert and Alma Bell Fussell, and was married for 62 years to the late Margaret "Maggie" Kicklighter Fusssell. Dr. Fussell was in the U. S. Army serving in the Veterinary Corps. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Fussell was a beloved veterinarian serving the Spartanburg Community for 40 plus years. He was a longtime partner with Smith Animal Hospital, working with all animals, large and small. As a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, he served as a Deacon, and Elder, and was a member of the New Revelation Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Country Club of Spartanburg. Along with his busy life, he was active with Mobile Meals for many years. Survivors include son, Thomas F. Fussell, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; daughters, Katy F. Smith (Rodney) of Boiling Springs, SC, and Molly F. Johnson (John Smith) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Josh Smith (Deanna) and Caroline Smith; numerous nieces and nephews; guardian angels, David and Harriet Ike and special friends, Homer and Louise Butler. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 309 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Dale Rawlings. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, P.O.
