Dr. Featherston

John Smith Featherston, M.D., 93, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, October 25, 2015, at Summit Hills-Spartanburg. Born June 24, 1922 in Macon, MS, he was the son of the late Chesterfield Dillard and Laura Mae Stewart Featherston. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Dr. Featherston, retired U. S. Navy Medical Corps Captain and retired radiologist, was a graduate of the University of Mississippi and received his Doctorate Degree from George Washington University. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the John Nicholson Sunday School Class. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Nora Beth Featherston; son, John Smith Featherston, Jr. (Lisa) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Forest Featherston and Zach Featherston (Becca); and great-grandchildren, Leah Featherston and Amara Featherston. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Wilson Hull Featherston. A memorial service honoring his life will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 29, 2015, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 626 Norwood St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, by the Rev. Neal Y.
