Dr. Cox

Dr. Charles Drummond Cox, 81, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at Columbia Presbyterian Community, Lexington, SC, with his family in attendance. Born December 14, 1935, in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Henry Cox, Sr. (Nonie Mae Spinks Cox). A retired dentist, Dr. Cox practiced in Spartanburg from the 1960's to early 2000's. He was a graduate of Furman University, Medical College of Virginia, and The Pankey Institute of Advanced Dental Studies. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg. In addition to his parents, Dr. Cox was predeceased by a brother, Gilbert Henry Cox, Jr. Surviving are his nephew, Gilbert Henry Cox, III and wife Rita of Charlotte, NC; niece, Macie Cox Templeton of Greensboro, NC; great-nephews, Gil Templeton and Chase Templeton; and great-niece, Hannah Templeton. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 17, 2017, in the family site of Lanford Baptist Church Cemetery, 135 Patterson Plant Rd., Enoree, SC 29335, by the Rev. Sal Barone. A reception and visitation will follow in the church Fellowship Hall.
