Dr. Paul H. Cook, 90, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, December 27, 2014 at his home. Born June 12, 1924, in Windsor Crossroads, NC, he was the son of the late Millard and Florence Windsor Cook. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family of six siblings. A graduate of Berry College, Duke University, and Duke Medical School specializing in dermatology, Dr. Cook retired from his dermatology practice after 60 years. As a physician, he served the Spartanburg community from 1959-2005. A U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, Dr. Cook was present on the second day of "D" Day. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church where he was a deacon, a former member of the Spartanburg Lions Club, Sertoma, Wofford Terrier Club, and Spartanburg Men's Garden Club. He was a rose grower and the recipient of a number of awards, was a regular visitor to the Master's, an avid NASCAR fan, and served on the Spartanburg Water and Sewer Board. Surviving is his beloved wife of more than 27 years, Patricia Green Cook; three children, Dr. Paul Huie Cook, Jr. (Karen) of Frisco, CO, Dr. Robert D. Cook of Salisbury, MD, and Dr. Martha Elaine Cook Woodward (Dr. John) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; stepson, Chris Bryant of Boiling Springs, SC; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; step-grandson, Jason Bryant (Rachel) of Inman, SC; and 2 great-step-grandsons. He was predeceased by his first wife, Rosannah Bishop Cook; and stepson, Terry Bryant. Visitation will be 1:30-2:30 PM, Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at Morningside Baptist Church Welcome Center, 897 S. Pine St., Spartanburg, SC 29302. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM in the church sanctuary, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely and the Rev. Robert C. Morgan. Burial will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens, 141 Memorial Dr., Pacolet, SC 29372. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice Compassus, 1923 East Main Street, Duncan, SC 29334.
