Dr. Don Marvin Bylund, 82, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at his home. Born February 13, 1932, in Alexandria, MN, he was the son of the late Albert and Ellen Johnson Bylund. A U. S. Navy veteran, he was a Lieutenant and Engineering Officer on a minesweeper in the Pacific. An NROTC member and graduate of the University of Nebraska, he went on to receive his PhD in Chemical Engineering at North Carolina State University. After 30 years of service, he retired as Research Director of Milliken Research Corporation. Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Barbara Brokaw Bylund; and sons, David Spencer Bylund of Honolulu, HI, and Philip Lee Bylund of San Francisco, CA. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, August 29, 2014, at First Presbyterian Church Chapel, 393 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, by The Rev. Joanne Hull and The Rev. J. Edward Morris. Music will be provided by guitar soloist John Akers. Visitation will follow the service in the church parlor. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Keeseville, NY.
