Dr. Addison

Dr. Robert W. Addison, 82, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, March 6, 2016. On March 27, 1933, in Durham, NC, Robert Wiley Addison was born to Roberta and Edgar Addison. Robert enjoyed playing golf with his son, son-in-laws, and all his golfing buddies. He enjoyed planning trips to Disney World, to the beach and skiing trips to the mountains with his family and especially Easter and Christmas at his home every year, where many cherished memories were made. He graduated from Mount Pisgah Academy in 1951, Duke University in 1953, attended Southern Adventist University and then Loma Linda University School of Dentistry where he graduated in 1960. Dr. Addison practiced dentistry for over 40 years in Spartanburg, SC and genuinely loved his patients. He treasured his family and many friends he was blessed to have in his life. He will be remembered for his love and many kindnesses to his family and friends. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife of 59 years, Janyce Jansen Addison. One of his greatest joys were his children, Angela Addison Lorenz (Dean) of Florence, SC, Susan Lee Pennington (Kevin) of Chattanooga, TN, Bonnie Lynn Howe (Gary) of St. Augustine, FL, and daughter-in-law, Stephanie Lorraine Addison of Apopka, FL. He was a very special and much loved "Pappy" to his grandchildren who were his delight, Robert Douglas Pennington (Katelyn), Kara LeeAnne Pennington, Nicholas Addison Howe, Victoria Anne Howe, Jeffrey William Lorenz, Bradford Addison Lorenz, Douglas Martin Lorenz and Gavin Robert Rauch Addison. In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his beloved son, Robert Martin "Mark" Addison; and sister, Judy Suarez. The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 PM Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Sunday, March 13, 2016, at the Spartanburg Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1217 John B. White Sr. Blvd., Spartanburg, SC 29306.
