Dowd Morris

Dowd Wilson Morris, 85, of 130 Country Club Court, Spartanburg, SC, passed away peacefully after a long illness. Dowd was a loving and devoted husband of 63 years to his wife Jo and proud father to daughter Donna. Dowd was born in Charlotte, North Carolina and began his career in banking at Wachovia Bank in 1950. In 1964, he accepted a position at Spartanburg Bank and Trust as Senior Vice President of Operations. In 1983, he was offered a new opportunity at Greenville National Bank in Greenville, South Carolina. He remained as Senior Vice President of Operations until he retired at age 65 in 1993. He is survived by his wife, Jo Morris of Spartanburg, South Carolina, daughter, Donna Morris, son-in-law, Lothrop Morris, and granddaughters whom he loved dearly, Emery and Rowan Morris of Palm Beach, Florida. He was loved by his family and friends and will be remembered for his strength, dedication, and honesty. He was our rock and will be deeply missed. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
