Douglas , Sr.

Douglas L. Young Sr., of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Anniston, AL, he was the son of the late Tom and Ella Miller Young. A veteran of the U. S. Air Force, Doug had a successful career in textiles, he loved spending time with his family, playing golf with his sons, was an avid Alabama fan, and attended Morningside Baptist Church. Survivors include his beloved wife of 49 years, Brenda Gayle Sprayberry Young, sons, Doug Young Jr. (Ellen) of Greensboro, NC, Daryl Young (Aleyda) of Spartanburg, SC, and David Young (Sherry) of Spring Hope, NC, grandchildren, Kevin and Makenzie, a special aunt, Ruth Sprayberry and a sister-in-law, Ann Sprayberry, both of Anniston, AL. He was predeceased by five brothers and one sister. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 10:45 AM on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Morningside Baptist Church Welcome Center, 897 South Pine St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, with a celebration of life service following at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church, 897 South Pine St., Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family is at the home. ROLL TIDE!
