Douglas Dean Smith

Douglas Dean Smith, 61 of Charlotte, North Carolinaa, passed away on August 9, 2023.  He was born on September 11, 1961, in Spartanburg, SC to his parents, the late Willie Eugene Smith, Jr. and Shirley Dean Bridges Smith.

Douglas completed his education at Garinger High School in Charlotte, NC in 1979.  He had a successful career with Piedmont Natural Gas as a Supervisor, allowing him to showcase his leadership skills while making positive contributions to the company.

He had an incredible ability to connect with others and make everyone feel valued and respected. Douglas will be sorely missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Douglas is survived by his brother, Darryl E. Smith of Spartanburg; two nieces, Whitney Cathrine Smith of New York, NY; and Hannah Griffin Smith of Alpharetta, Georgia. 

Douglas is predeceased by his parents and his brother, David Dorman Smith.

 A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 PM on September 11th, 2023 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood Glendale Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29307. The visitation will follow the Graveside Service. Officiating the service will be The Rev. Mike Myers.

As we mourn Douglas loss, let us also celebrate the incredible impact he had on our lives. May Douglas' memory serve as an inspiration to us all.
