Dorothy Woollen

Dorothy Ballard Woollen, 87, of Spartanburg, formerly of Greenville, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at her home. Born June 30, 1922, in Polk County, NC, and reared in Hope Mills, NC, she was the daughter of the late Gentry and Nina Keese Ballard. She was retired from Meyers Arnold Department Store in Greenville. She was a member of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church in Greenville and attended the First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg. Survivors include a daughter, Betty W. Dunnuck and her husband Bill of Marco Island, FL; two sons, Chris J. Woollen and his wife Angela T. of Marietta, GA, and Dr. Claude D. Woollen and his wife Kimberly H. of Moore; grandchildren, Scott Dunnuck, Suzanne Sheridan, Christopher Woollen, Taylor Woollen, Megan Woollen, and Todd Woollen; and five great-grandchildren, Ashley and Sean Dunnuck, Natalie, Samantha, and Alexis Sheridan. She was predeceased by two brothers, James Ballard and Claude Ballard; and two sisters, Eleanor Martin and Fleda Edwards. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 a.m. Friday, February 26, 2010, in the Church Parlor at the First Presbyterian Church, 393 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at the Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. David A. Renwick and the Rev. Susan Moorefield. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville, SC. Memorials may be made to Piedmont Hospice, 1865 East Main Street, Suite F, Duncan, SC 29334. The family is at the home of her son, Dr. Claude Woollen, 145 Moore Dairy Road, Moore, SC 29369.
