Dorothy Selena Stacy Williamson, 94, of Spartanburg, died Monday December 31, 2012 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. Born December 15, 1918, in Clover, SC, she was the widow of James Godfrey Williamson and daughter of the late Starr Neely and Mattie Ormond Stacy. Mrs. Williamson was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church, an avid gardener, and retired teacher, after 32 years of service, at Fremont Elementary School. Surviving are her children, Jim Williamson (Debra) and Carol Alexander (Randy), all of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Angelia Brown (Chris) of Mooresville, NC, Jeffrey Kye Vassey of Greenville, SC; John Williamson Vassey (Amanda) of Piedmont, SC; and Wesley James Williamson of San Francisco, CA; and four great-grandchildren. A private service will be conducted in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. Dr. Daniel C. Coleman. Memorials may be made to Providence Presbyterian Church, 1665 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Our mother was touched by many people, especially the past few months - they include the members of Providence Presbyterian Church, Dr. Dan Coleman and Dr. Chip Bennett; the tender loving care of the nurses Tiffany Hampton, Annette Sanford, and Brooklyn Hyder; social worker, Elizabeth Elliman; many friends and family members, Brenda Goforth, Carl King, Bobbie and Wayne Anderson, Nancy Alexander, Jane Wilson, and mother's pen-pal of many years, Lydia Allman.
