Dorothy Hammett "Dot" Wilkins, 86, of Gaffney, SC died Friday, February 8, 2013 at Magnolias Assisted Living, Gaffney, SC. Born June 29, 1926 in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Ruth Garrett Hammett. She was retired from The Leader and was a member of Cannon's Campground United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, G. R. "Chick" Wilkins; son, Monte Wilkins (Mary) of Cowpens; grandchildren, Patricia Trent of Greenwood, Cassidy Nichols of Gaffney, Carmen Wilkins of Cowpens, and Melissa McCarter of Inman; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Hunter Hammett (Julia) of Fairforest; and son-in-law, Steve Wright of Gaffney. She was predeceased by a daughter, Cheryl Wright; brother, Charles Hammett, and a sister, Gladys Phillips. Visitation will be 1:00-2:45 PM Monday, February 11, 2013 at Cannon's Campground United Methodist Church. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at the church, conducted by the Rev. Mac Kinnett and the Rev. David Ervin. Burial will be in Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens.
