Dorothy Stephens

Dorothy Golden Stephens, 84, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at her home. Born November 2, 1926, in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late Landon Smith and Annie Mae McCary Golden, and wife of the late Chester H. Stephens. Dorothy raised five wonderful children, volunteered for Mobile Meals Service, and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She was a 1944 graduate of Greenwood High School and graduated in 1947 as a registered nurse from Spartanburg General Hospital. She was employed 1947-1948 with Spartanburg General Hospital, 1951-1953 as a private duty nurse with Nurses Registry, and 1969-1976 as a clinical instructor for Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Survivors include her children, Ronald Keith Stephens (Kathy) of Columbia, Stuart Alan Stephens (Janice) of Columbia, Vicki Diane Stephens of Spartanburg, Joseph Mark Stephens (Lynette) of Columbia, and Robert Britt Stephens (Leann) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Hunter & Troy Stephens, Dr. Lauren Holliday, Shawn Wagner, Rachel Stephens, Adam & Justin Stephens; and great-grandchildren, Kali & Jackson Wagner. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by a brother, Robert Barron Golden. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 PM Friday, June 24, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 25, 2011, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Frank E. Lybrand. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
