Dorothy Holland Snyder of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2012. Born October 27, 1919 in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles Adolphus and Patra Bearden Holland and was married to the late George William Snyder, Sr. for sixty-seven years. She graduated from Spartanburg High School and Converse College, class of 1940. After graduating, she taught school in Spartanburg County. Following her husband's return from World War II, she lived in Kingsport, TN, for 49 years. She was an active member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church. Dot loved playing bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs and garden clubs in the Kingsport area. Dot returned to Spartanburg with her late husband in 1997. She has been a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church since her return. She was a loving mother to her daughter, Dorothy Snyder Randall of Atlanta, GA and her son and daughter-in-law, George William and Cindy Wilson Snyder of Sarasota, FL. She is survived by her closest friend and twin sister Frances Holland Hardy of Spartanburg, SC. Dot was a devoted and much loved Nana to her three grandchildren, Matthew William Snyder, Rachel Holland Snyder, and Natasha Alyse Snyder. She was predeceased by her sisters, Ernestine Holland White and Hazel Holland Belk and her brother, Charles Adolphus Holland, Jr. The family will receive friends from 12:00-12:45 PM Monday, October 22, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC. Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Frank E. Lybrand will follow at 1:00 PM in the Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
