Dorothy Platt

Dorothy Jean Hughes Platt, 77, of Cowpens, died Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Windsor House West-Spartanburg. Born February 10, 1935, in Murphy, NC, she was the widow of Heyward "Buddy" Platt, and daughter of the late Doyle Hughes and Gertrude Garrett Coyle. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cowpens and formerly employed at Alkahn Labels. Surviving are her son, Benny Dearybury and wife Elaine of Spartanburg; sister, Joann Coyle and husband Don of Cowpens; and best friend, Betty Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Michael Dearybury; and stepfather, Broadus Coyle. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 27, 2012, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. Ronell Owensby. Visitation will follow at the home of Dorothy Platt.
