Dorothy Layne

Dorothy H. Layne went to be with her LORD and Savior on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in Colville, WA. Affectionately known as "Dot", she was born in DeLand, FL, on July 2, 1914, the youngest of ten children of Lulu Heistand Hon and Edmond Hon. On June 22, 1934, she married Robert Louis Layne. They soon moved to Spartanburg, SC, where they raised their four children. Bob preceded his wife in death on June 21, 1992. In her later years, Dot lived in Skylyn Place and then RoseCrest, assisted living. In August of 2005, she was moved to Colville, WA, to be in the care of her firstborn, Janis. She entered Buena Vista Nursing Home in Colville in late August of 2008, spending the remaining 17 months of her life in the loving care of the staff of that facility. Dot is survived by her four children, Janis Elizabeth Layne Carter and husband Don of Colville, WA, Sandra Louise Layne Kogelschatz and husband Deane of Cottonwood, AL; Robert Louis Layne, Jr. and wife Candace of Farmington, MI; and Edmond Hon Layne and wife Rita of Spartanburg; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held from 1:00-1:45 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, followed by a graveside service and interment at 2:00 p.m. at the family plot in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev.
