Dorothy Marie Kloepper, 87, of 400 Webber Road, died Monday, December 14, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born July 6, 1922, in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Henry Charles Kloepper and Dorothy Christine Krey Kloepper. She attended the University of Nebraska and was a graduate of Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan. She was a national staff member of the American Red Cross for 33 years, including more than 14 years overseas in Germany, Japan, and Vietnam. She also served on a number of disaster relief assignments, beginning in Texas in 1946 and ending in New York State in 1972. Her final assignment was at Red Cross National Headquarters in Washington, D.C., retiring in 1978. She was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Advent where she was an active member of the Episcopal Church Women and the weekly newsletter mailing group. Survivors include a dearly loved sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by a sister, Adelaide M. Kloepper of Spartanburg; and a brother, Henry Charles Kloepper, Jr. of St. Louis, MO. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009, at The Episcopal Church of the Advent Parish and Community Life Center. Funeral services will follow at the Church at 2:00 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Susan E. Perrin. Entombment will be in the Cloister Columbarium following the service.
