Dorothy Brown Floyd, 85, died Friday, June 17, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born February 27, 1926, in Glendale, SC, she was a daughter of the late Ulbridge Hydrick and Pearl Jones Brown. She was a loving wife, mom, and servant of Jesus, a member of Ben Avon Baptist Church where she was secretary for 29 years and a member of the WMU. She was also a member of the Lillie Knox Garden Club. Surviving are her husband of 64 years, James Curtis Floyd; four daughters Lila Price (Ray) of Spartanburg, Barbara Shaffer (David) of Lexington, SC, Debbie Floyd of Florence, SC, and Tammie Matthews (David) of Spartanburg; two sons Wayne Floyd (Kay) of Spartanburg, and Jimmy Floyd (Karen) of Blacksburg, SC.; grandchildren Ross Vinsant, Angie Fitts, Phillip Price, Dawn Floyd, Jamie Floyd, Andee West, Erin Floyd, Heather Floyd, Shane Harmon, Jeremy Harmon, Lari Spotts, Jeremy Thomason, Grant Floyd, Lee Floyd, Jessica Matthews, and Bryan Matthews; fifteen great-grandchildren; and her dog, Cody. She was predeceased by two sisters, Nellie B. Smith and Ruth B. Collin. The family extends a special thanks to her niece, Tina Floyd, and all the caregivers. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, June 20, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. James C. Hilton, the Rev. Tommy Sparks, and the Rev. Richard King. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
