Dorothy Cumbee

Dorothy Adrail Hyman Cumbee, 78, of Spartanburg, formerly of Charleston, died Monday, May 9, 2011 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born January 31, 1933, in Dillon, SC, she was the daughter of the late Willis and Lexie Hyman. Dorothy was a member of the Citadel Square Baptist Church in Charleston and a former employee of the U. S. Navy Printing Service. Survivors include her husband of nearly 60 years, A. B. Cumbee; two daughters, Joyce Womick and husband Paul of Spartanburg, and Barbara Curtis and husband Bruce of St. Augustine, FL; a son, Ricky Cumbee of Charleston; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Virginia Woodward of Goldsboro, NC, Jean Stokes and Ann Creech, both of Timmonsville, SC. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Jack Bratton. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
