Dorothy Callaway

Dorothy Freda Shaw Callaway, 72, of Moore, SC died peacefully Friday, June 16, 2017. Born January 9, 1945 in Kimberley, Nottinghamshire, England, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Dorothy Develin Shaw. Dorothy was a Master Gardener and was formerly a manager for the Hardware and Garden Center of Burnett's Ace Hardware, then with Odom Ace Hardware. In 1995, she started her own business "Callaway Aquatics." She built the Remembrance Garden at Spartanburg Humane Society. A natural, gifted teacher, who loved to host seminars with garden clubs and home owner associations about water gardens, she never met a stranger. A wonderful wife, mother, grand and great-grandmother, who loved to cook, and was devoted to her canine companions. Survivors include her loving husband, Brian Callaway; daughter, Amanda Sarosh of Ida, MI; sons, Martin Lee Callaway of Enoree, SC; Scott Callaway (Angela) of Spartanburg; sister, Barbara Shaw Bailey of Cincinnati, OH; brother, Frank Shaw of Nottinghamnshire, England; three grandchildren and one great granddaughter; and Katie Callaway, her canine family member. Along with her parents, she is also predeceased by three sisters. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 PM Monday, June 26, 2017 at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church Street Chapel, Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral service will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
