Dorothy Bokanoski

Dorothy Morrow Bokanoski, 92, of Spartanburg, SC, widow of John Edward Bokanoski, died Sunday, July 31, 2016, at her home. Born March 24, 1924, in Landrum, SC, she was the daughter of the late Isom and Olive Harrison Morrow and the last surviving member of her immediate family. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mrs. Bokanoski was a devoted Christian with a smile that would light up a room. "Mama Dot" never met a stranger and was a selfless and compassionate individual. She was a longtime member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she was very active. She was also employed as a secretary and bookkeeper with Cecil Construction Company for many years. Survivors include her daughter, Judy B. Rudasill (Mike) of Duncan, SC; grandchildren, Kim Fowler (Josh) of Duncan, SC and Amy Nipe (John) of Rock Hill, SC; and great-granddaughters, Aggie Fowler, Gillian Fowler, and Eleanor Nipe. Visitation will be 12:45-1:45 PM Thursday, August 4, 2016, in the Ministry Center at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Rufus Chaneyworth. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, 350 N. Blackstock Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29301. Honorary escort will be members of the Golden Age Club. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, 350 North Blackstock Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
