Dorothy Elinor Miles Andrews, 78, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, January 12, 2015, at Spartanburg Medical Center following a brief illness. Born January 28, 1936, she was a native of Waterbury, CT, and was the daughter of the late Kenneth George Miles and Cecilia Pellatier. Mrs. Andrews earned her Master's degree from Mattatuck Community College in Waterbury, CT and was retired from Naugatuck Valley Community College after 29 years as an admissions/marketing counselor. She was active on several boards, the Literacy Volunteers of America, YWCA of Waterbury, and American Business Women's Association. In 1997, she relocated to Boynton Beach, FL, where she enjoyed an active retirement. In 2013, she relocated to Summit Hills Retirement Community in Spartanburg, SC to reside near her son and daughter-in-law. During her time at Summit Hills, she enjoyed activities with her fellow residents, such as Jeopardy and singing in the Cabaret. She attended the Episcopal Church of the Advent. She was predeceased by her son, Darryl Andrews; and brother, Bob Miles. Left to cherish fond memories are her sons, Mark Andrews (Pam) of New Hampshire, and Steven Andrews (Laura) of Inman, SC; brother, Barry Wood (Fran) of Clearwater, FL; grandson, Mark Andrews of Antioch, CA; granddaughter, Nicole Awadallah (Mustafa) of Barrington, NH; and great-granddaughters, Jade and Jia Awadallah. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, January 26, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. The immediate family will hold a private memorial service in Boynton Beach, FL at a later date.
