Dorothy Adams

Dorothy Mae Shuford Adams, 92, of Spartanburg, SC went home to be with her Lord on Friday, August 19, 2022. Born February 26, 1930 in Lincolnton, NC, she was the daughter of the late William Arthur and Willie Velma Sorrells Shuford and the wife of the late Rev. Dr. William Herbert Adams.

She was a member of Carolina Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Adult Sunday School class. She attended Lenoir-Rhyne College.

Survivors include her daughters, Phyllis Adams White (Richard) and Marcella Adams Coleman, both of Spartanburg; four grandchildren, Amy Davis (Stan), Marc Williamson (Jamie), Chris Williamson (Dana), and Adam Richardson (Kim); ten great grandchildren, Megan Williamson, Hailey Davis Brewington (Zachary), Courtney Williamson, Dawson Williamson (Madison), Landon Davis, Lance Williamson, Carson Williamson, Lakelan Williamson, Daxton Williamson, and Colton Williamson; four great-great grandchildren, Caleb Williamson, Avery Williamson, Brystal Williamson, and Maddie Brewington. She was predeceased by a son, Ricky Dennis Adams and son-in-law, Wayne Coleman, two brothers, Charles Shuford and Edsel Shuford.

Visitation will be at 1:30 – 2:30 pm Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Carolina Baptist Church, 256 Floyd Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303. Funeral service will be at 3:00 pm at the church, conducted by her grandson, The Rev. Marc Williamson. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carolina Baptist Church Missions, 256 Floyd Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
