Doris Strickland-Byrd

Doris (Dobbie) Strickland-Byrd, 46, of Chesnee, died Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born November 29, 1965, in Spartanburg, she a daughter of Frances Edith Lancaster Strickland and the late Howard Earl Strickland. She was a desk clerk at Motel 6 and a member of Beaumont Baptist Church. Dobbie was a flutist in her high school band, an avid photographer, loved teaching and helping young people, and going to the beach. Survivors include her husband, Bobby Joe Byrd; stepson, Patrick Landrum; sisters, Frances Earlene Boheler and Sandra Link, both of Chesnee; brothers, Curtis Strickland and and Michael Strickland, both of Wellford, Howard Earl Strickland, Jr. of Roebuck, and Charles Lee (C. L.) Strickland of Chesnee; and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Carlisle Wesleyan Church, conducted by the Rev. Michael Stepp, the Rev. David W. Gibson, and the Rev. John Cox. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home of Tonya Byrd, 3059 Huntington Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29302 and at the home of her mother, 161 Folk Road, Chesnee, SC 29323.
