A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Doris Coggins Shurburtt, 91, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She was born on March 01,1933 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Doris was the daughter of the late Horace E. and Grace Coggins.
Doris was a dedicated Christian lady who enjoyed studying the Bible and serving the Lord. Doris had a fulfilling career spanning over three decades in the beauty industry, where she showcased her talent in cosmetology. Her dedication and skill touched the lives of many clients throughout the years.
Apart from her professional achievements, Doris found joy in hobbies such as: sewing, playing the piano, adoring music, and singing in the church choir. Her passion for these activities added depth to her vibrant life. Described as a devoted family woman, Doris cherished her loved ones with all her heart. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever resonate with those who knew her.
Doris is survived by her children: a son, Greg Shurburtt (Andrea), daughters, Julie Walker (David Sr.), and Kimberly Shurburtt; 11 grandchildren: David Walker Jr. (Lauren), Michael Walker (Morgan), Kyle Walker (Kristen), Keith Walker (Meredith), Jonathan Shurburtt (Jordan), Christopher Shurburtt (Natthinee), Cameron Shurburtt (Ashley), Jason Shurburtt (Augusta), Seth Shurburtt, Jacquelyn Burkhead (Jason), and Lauren Anthony (Dunklin); as well as 23 great-grandchildren. Doris was predeceased by her husband; Joseph E. Shurburtt, sons; Chris Shurburtt and Michael Shurburtt, her father; Horace E. Coggins, and mother; Grace Smith Coggins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday July 20, 2024, at The JF Floyd Greenlawn Chapel located at: 2075 East Main Street Spartanburg, SC 29307, from 12:00- 1:00pm, the funeral service will follow beginning at 1:00pm. Burial will be held at 2:00pm at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens located at:1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road Spartanburg, SC 29307.
The family would like to thank all the staff and caregivers at Eden Terrace for all the wonderful help and devotion during this difficult time. Another special thank you to the staff at Family Hospice.
