Doris Evelyn Sawyer, 85, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, November 8, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born August 30, 1928, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Maxwell and Annie Lou Rogers Smith, and wife of the late Ralph Sawyer. Mrs. Sawyer loved her family. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and retired from Bi-Lo after 25 years of service. Survivors include her children, Vickie Seay (Connie), Rick Sawyer (Libby), and Lynn Gosnell, all of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Chris Mayse (Jennifer), Kevin Seay, Jason Gosnell (Kelli), Patrick Gosnell, and Rikki Sawyer; great-grandchildren, Gavin Mayse, Aubree Mayse, and Graeme Gosnell; sisters, Bobbie Wingo of Boiling Springs, Mary Jo Easler (Charles) of Spartanburg, Freddie Ballenger of Chesnee, and Jean Abercrombie of Florida; brother, J. M. Smith (Betty) of Spartanburg; and her best friend for 59 years, Virginia Gosnell of Spartanburg. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by a sister, Brenda Gail Splawn; and son-in-law, Brick Gosnell. Visitation will be 3:00-3:45 PM Sunday, November 10, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Scott Linnerud and the Rev. Mike Cooke. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. The family is at the home of Lynn Gosnell, 711 Gorham Drive, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
