Doris O'Shields

Doris Faye Smith O'Shields, 86, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at her home. Born July 28, 1928, in Union, SC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Monroe and Pearl Porter Smith, and widow of Hugh DeFoix O'Shields. Mrs. O'Shields was a member of United Baptist Church and a homemaker who loved and enjoyed her home, family, church, and her Savior. Survivors include her children, Carol Beth Gregory of Spartanburg, Dianne Edwards (Ernie) of Cowpens, SC, Hugh Allen O'Shields (Sally) of Spartanburg, SC, Libby Smith (Steve) of Atlanta, GA; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three brothers and one sister. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, with services following at 11:00 AM in the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Monty King. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Baptist Church Building Fund, 7319 Valley Falls Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29303.
