Doris Martin Nanney, 89, of Spartanburg, SC died Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Pelham Medical Center. Born September 27, 1932 in Greenwood, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Jones and Eula Lee Woodle Martin, and the wife of the late Darnold Dee Nanney.
A 1950 graduate of Spartanburg High School and a 1954 Cum Laude graduate of Converse College, Mrs. Nanney was a strong advocate of education teaching secondary education for 35 years before retiring from Spartanburg County District 7. She was a charter member of Morningside Baptist Church.
Survived by her son, Rex Allen Nanney (Patti) of Duncan, SC, her daughter, Lisa Nanney Tetzel (Joe) of Moore, SC, eight grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12:45 – 1:45 PM Friday, December 3, 2021 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. The Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM at the chapel, conducted by The Rev. Dr. Steven Owensby and The Rev. Keith Taylor. The committal will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church, 897 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
