Doris Hogan

Doris Mildred Holt Hogan, 92, a native of Pacolet, SC, died Monday, January 16, 2017, after spending the last seven years at RoseCrest Retirement Community and a year prior at Windsor House. Born April 2, 1924, in Pacolet Mills, SC, she was the only child of the late Thomas Gibson Holt and Verlie Sutton Holt and widow of William Paul Hogan (2006). Doris was a lifelong member of Pacolet Mills Baptist Church. A 1942 graduate of Pacolet High School and then Robinson's Business College, she went to work for Pacolet Manufacturing Company, later know as Milliken, retiring after 35 years working in the Payroll Department. Doris loved her church, her home, and Pacolet. She especially enjoyed spring when her azaleas and rhododendrons were in bloom, spending many enjoyable hours in her sunroom taking in their beauty. In the summer, she enjoyed picking blueberries from her blueberry bushes and making muffins to take to her friends. Doris and her mother are fondly remembered by many for the beautiful fashionable hats they wore to church. Mrs. Hogan is survived by cousins, Conway B. Sutton, Phillip C. Sutton, and Teri S. Carlton. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 19, 2017, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Norman L. Band.
