Doris Hill

Doris Spurlin Hill, 84, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born February 21, 1932, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Forest Lee Spurlin, Sr. and Arabelle Kirby Spurlin and widow of Luther Hill. Mrs. Hill loved to read and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She was a member of Ben Avon United Methodist Church where she also served as secretary. She was a retired administrative assistant at MEMC. Surviving are her sister, Beulah Linder of Gaffney, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Johnny Franklin Spurlin; and eight brothers and sisters, Forest Lee Spurlin, Jr., Harold Lee Spurlin, James Spurlin, Irene Murray, Edna Banks, Cornelia Rogers, Myrtle Gilmer, and Howard Spurlin. Visitation will be 1:30-2:15 PM Sunday, November 6, 2016, at Ben Avon United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Jonesy Brewer and the Rev. Daniel Blackwell. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ben Avon United Methodist Church, 2360 Avondale Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
