Doris Coley

Doris Elizabeth Smith Coley, 84, of 4443 Grissom Rd., Spartanburg, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born November 24, 1926, in Green Creek, NC, she was the daughter of the late Dolphus Eugene and Minnie Shields Smith and wife of the late John C. Coley. Mrs. Coley was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she was a member of the Agape Sunday School Class. She was also a former secretary for John C. Coley & Co. Real Estate & Insurance. Survivors include her daughter, Gayle C. Hawkins of Boiling Springs; two sons, John C. Coley, III and Scott Alan Coley, MD and his wife Sabrina, all of Spartanburg; two sisters, Margie Lewis of Campobello, and Betty Lou Henson of Inman; a brother, Albert Smith of Florida; and two grandsons, Rance and Daniel Hawkins. She was predeceased by a sister, Jessie Coley, and a brother, Roy Smith. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, April 15, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Henry Coley and the Rev. Jack Weaver. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Special thanks to Honorary Escorts, Deborah Gore and Tonya Lewis, for their kindness and compassion.
